One Voice Youth Network is Gateshead’s Children in Care Council, it is a statutory duty for every Local Authority to have some kind of Children in Care Council. In Gateshead we offer a variety of ways for Looked After and Care experienced children and young people to get involved.

Younger Voice – for 8-11 year old young people who meet during the school holidays

One Voice – for 11-17 year old young people who meet weekly

Older Voice – for 17- 25 year old young people who meet when necessary

All three groups take part in recruitment and selection of face to face, and decision making staff for Gateshead Council, for designing and delivering training to a range of adults like, social workers, elected councillors, foster carers, students and any of the council staff, as they are all corporate parents. These groups also find ways to involve other young people, don’t want, or can’t come to the groups, to get involved, whether that be online using surveys or at LAC events.
